French Lilacs are Syringa vulgaris common lilacs with double flowers. We grow as many French Lilacs as we can so we can sell them during our Retail Plant Sale at The Flowering Shrub Farm in Voorheesville, NY 12186. We dont sell Lilacs until they start to flower. Below are two pictures of each lilac. If the picture is of the front porch the crop probably isn't ready for sale yet but check again during the spring inventory in May. The picture on the right will show how many are available for sale (noted in the upper right hand corner of the sign) as of a certain date. Every year I purchase thousands of rooted cuttings from Lilacs, pot them into three gallon pots, then train and grow them (while taking pictures of them) until they flower several years later. The year after they flower I sell them during the plant sale while they are in bloom.
I'm Andrew Van Cleve, chief grower at Azalea House Flowering Shrub Farm, and I grow flowering shrubs (Old Roses, Classic Lilacs, Native Azaleas and Rhododendrons) without fungicide to reveal truly disease resistant plants. I am providing time honored, proven shrubs that are hardy, disease resistant and fragrant locally. To see if the plant you have chosen is resistant to powdery mildew check out a "growingcrop.jpg" picture of that crop in September or October of my newsletter or go to the individual page for that plant linked above. We dont spray these plants with fungicide so if you look at a group of 50 and dont see any disease thats pretty resistant.
How we grow Lilacs We grow plants to sell at our plant sale. Read my notes on the zone hardiness numbers I use. Do we do mail order? Check my picture-newsletter Want to purchase? email me
